The clubs are closed in my country but students from a bunch of different universities made a big outdoor party( around 500 people). I decided to have fun and try to kill my approach anxiety after not approaching for almost a year.

I(M19) decided to open a bunch of sets, I'm pretty uncalibrated and almost always fall into the "this is weird and awkward frame".

1. I open a three set (Three girls) , all three older than me, they keep giving eachother the "this is awkward look" as I talk to them. One girl is super cute, shes 24 though. We talk for a bit, they are receptive but don't hold the conversation well, I can't hold the conversation anymore so I leave.

2 Next I open another three set asking if they've seen my friend and they immediately call me in by ignoring my question and pointing to their friend saying shes single(Wow, thats my chance I think). I shut up, raise my hand to meet her, and give her a smirk in a smoothly manner. They all start laughing and touching hair. I tease them for a bit but they are all around 23-24. They tell me that my friends are calling me(they werent... they just wanted to get rid of me) so I leave.

3 Next, I open a hot 19 yr old with curly black hair, shes giving me IOIs, I tease her and push her with my hand. Shes receptive but I make a mistake by trying to engage with another girl thats walking by, then the curly hair left. Turns out this was the best set of the night.

4 Opened two more sets, one was super awkward because I just stared at the girls for a minute not knowing how to open, they were looking at me a few feet away, giving eachother the infamous "awkward look" yet again.

5 The other set, super hot 19 year old blonde with an ugly friend. I make eye contact and say:"Wow!" (like shes blown me away, making sure she hears me, she laughs). I immediately walk up to her giving her my fist, greeting her. I get her name, we talk for a bit, shes kinda drunk and starts using her phone. I'm not sure if she was nervous but I felt like she wasnt interested, I didn't know what to do so I just negged them by saying "Thought you were more interesting than this" and left. I still felt good because of that.

I hope this helps you, I consider myself bad at approaching but I always look to have fun as I've noticed that none of my 5 guy friends ever approach because they're afraid. So I came to the conclusion that I most likely have less approach anxiety than they do and most of the guys out there.

I feel like my main problems are a) making the conversation look natural b) looking too young, childish. I can't grow a beard out and feel like I'm still a kid even though I'm 19. I need to work on eye contact, vocal projection, body language and stuff like that.

Anyhow, good luck everybody.
