So I've been thinking about this weird thing that happened a couple days ago, and reflecting on how to eliminate last-minute flake-outs. Advice?
Here's the situation: I'm on a date with a girl and it's going well. I suggest going back to my place. She says she thinks she should go home. I say fine. We somehow end up at my place. Eventually I suggest going to my room. She says she thinks she should get going. I say no problem, but you barely touched your wine, how about some more? We somehow end up in my room. And so on and so on, until she is in my bed, her shirt is off and she asks what I think about her boobs.
I jokingly say I don't like them, and all hell breaks loose. She's really upset. I think for a minute about what to do, and just start apologizing. She runs out of my room and down the stairs screaming about how offended she is, and literally runs down the street in bare feet. I follow behind, but go home when it becomes clear she's really determined to run. I don't even know how she got home. All I got from this encounter was a pair of black fishnet stockings. No use for those.
This was obviously a pretty big mindfuck. I wondered if I shouldn't have apologized. I wondered if I should have let her go running, and forced myself to stay in bed even though every cell of my body wanted to get up. Maybe she would have come back, or we could have picked things up later. Obviously, by the time I went out in search of her, and was more or less in the position of chasing, everything was ruined. I wondered if I shouldn't have made that comment in the first place. I wondered if the girl was just nuts. The most likely thing seems to be that this wasn't really about the comment at all but a form of last-minute resistance. I probably needed to do something else during the date to stop this from happening. But you can bet I'm not going to tell a woman I don't like her boobs next time, just in case.
This is pretty common for me. I can get women involved and attracted but the flake ratio seems incredibly high. Like seriously, how could someone get into your bed and then immediately the connection just snaps like that over one stupid comment? This is the most extreme example, but it's not the only one. A few months back, for example, I had a number and very suggestive and specific suggestion to hangout, and got completely ghosted. I can't express how frustrating this is getting. I enjoy women but this is almost becoming a kind of torture.
Is this normal? Do you really have to let go to that level, to the point that everything is in place for sex and then instantly the bond is broken, and you stay cool as ice anyway? How do you handle that? Or how do you prevent it? Has this happened to you?
Thoughts appreciated.
