I am not sure what happened here so not looking for particular advice about the situation but for a general reading on the situation.

I opened a two set last night at a pub. Teased and flirted with one and eventually made out with her on the dance floor with her friend standing next to us the whole time.

We took a break from dancing and come out in an open area to smoke. The three of us standing there with nobody saying anything. I was not sure if I should continue the conversation as before (a mixture of getting to know them + teasing/flirting) or if I should have addressed the elephant in the room that we just made out and if so then how, in a continuous teasing way or showing empathy to the friend who was kind of the third wheel.

The friend went to the wash room and I was able to spark open the conversation again with this girl but the night eventually ended with the girl not wanting to come over and giving a vague response to "When will I see you again?"

I am feeling a bit low as verbally my game was on-point (I even guessed that she went to this rich kids boarding school out of thin air).

The more general question I am seeking an answer to is:

If you have already made an escalation (verbal and/or non-verbal) do you keep piling it up (if there is still an hour or two left for the night to be done) or do you go for the close (either by taking her home or by taking her number)?
