Here's a mini FR on my performance today at university cafeteria. I had just finished working out (5x5 stronglifts for those interested) and went to the caff to get my protein fill (no homo). As usual I sat alone on the single desks, and noticed there were lots of 2-3 group sets all over the caf, but no real large sets, I wasn't thinking about opening at all anyways. Then this one girl, a 7 or so sits down alone with her food and reads a book... so i say what the hell, this is a great opportunity to open. I immediately got up walked over and sat down infront of her and said "hey hows it going?" Now i'm not sure if this is a good opener? After her response I just talked about her field of study, where she transferred from and made a few jokes about her being full (since she didnt finish her food). I gave strong eye contact, maybe 70% , and she would lock sometimes and look away first. I think my mood was dampened though from being tired after the workout, and she could probably feel my vibe. I was forcefully trying to make jokes and having a high energy. We talked for 10 minutes or so about general stuff, then I told her i had to leave for class.. this is where i messed up, i asked for her phone # even though i didn't really think about it before and she kind of hesitated to open her purse... i just said "well whatever there's no need, i gotta go" and just got up and said nice meeting you, she said yeah sure ill see you around (definitely wont happen, i didnt get any info besides her name). Was this approach a waste of time? How could i of done a better job at making jokes, not being hesitant to divert the conversation without seeming random?
