In my last field report (FR[13]), I mentioned having a smiling default face. I'm not sure how useful this will be, but some people were curious about it, and I've looked around the web for some examples, which aren't the best, but hopefully illustrate what I was trying to describe in words. This seems to work for me and the style I am trying to develop, and it might not work for you. I am an AFC, so take all of my advice with a grain of salt. Any rec's/advice from the pro's are welcome.
Smiling Face:
I've been practicing a default "face" whenever I'm out. Smiling too much doesn't work, and smiling too little doesn't either. I think I'm beginning to master the face of mischief look. I'm trying to look for a pic, but can't find any good ones. Basically, imagine yourself smiling slightly with your upper teeth just slightly exposed, but for the wrong reason, a reason that nobody but yourself knows, which you find absolutely amusing. It could be all in my head, but I feel like I've gotten a lot of people to notice me just by wearing this smiling I-know-something-but-you-don't "face".
Examples: 1 2 3 4 5. Hopefully these will get my points across....
Some comments: Your eyes should be relaxed, and even opened wide. Eyebrows can be raised slightly. It shouldn't be a lot of effort to keep the look. It should be subtle, especially if you want to wear it all night. You need to give yourself room to give a genuine smile when the moment comes. Remember, if you are grinning a tonne and have your eyes scrunched as far as they'll go already, you have no "room" to emote further. I've noticed that the friends I have who have magnetic personalities often have this sort of look to them.
