Depends on context but yeah, I've had this exact line a few times before and followed it up with "I wouldn't trust me either" with strong eye contact and a smirk and strong escalation. Next minute, sex.
Women want sex to be the man's fault. "I don't trust you" means she can tell herself the story "Oh it wasn't my fault, he couldn't help himself, I even told him I couldn't trust him. The sex was totally his fault". It stops them feeling like a slut.
