Texting's a weird thing. Personally, I think it depends on your age group. Being a 21 year old, I don't text too often and neither do my friends. However, I spent the weekend with my family, and my younger sister brought along some of her friends. I noticed they texted "boys they liked" (they're 17) constantly but they never started. Whenever those guys texted they'd be glued to their phones and sometimes would sit there texting for hours.

However, you can't build attraction via texting. But if the attraction is already there then texting can be beneficial to keep interest, especially if you're not seeing them for a few days. Only thing that I found worked was inside jokes etc but for that you need to spend time with them.

At the end of the day, when my sisters friends were talking to me in person and spending time with me, they weren't texting the "boys they liked". I think you should text to maintain attraction, not to build it though. If you don't text a girl you're interested in too often, she may just talk to the guys who are giving her attention. Maybe that's just the younger generation though; I've found older girls don't message or use facebook etc nearly as much.

Thoughts?

TL;DR: texting is good to maintain attraction but not to build attraction
