Hey all, not too long ago I received a "Blindspot" message (it's an app that allows you to send anonymous messages to people in your contacts list) saying "you're an amazing dancer" (I'm a regular salsa dancer). I thanked them but asked why compliment me anonymously and they wrote "Because I think you should ask me out".

So I think there are only 2 possibilities here:

  1. It's a legit message and there is a girl who is interested. Or...
  2. It's a friend/acquaintance of mine trying to bust my balls/prank me, in a very weird way.

Even though my gut instinct is telling me this is a hoax/prank, I still decided to roll along with it, in case it's someone who I am actually interested in.

Later that week at my usual dancing place, couldn't really notice any girl giving me more focus/attention/compliments than usual. So a friend of mine suggested an idea so I wrote back "Tried asking someone out tonight, didn't work, maybe you should give me a hint :-)". Then the other side wrote "Then you probably didn't try hard enough".

To me, that's another sign that someone here is trying to bust my balls over nothing - so I just responded with "I'll think about it" and left it at that. Next time I'm at my dancing place I'll just behave as usual and if I'm in the mood maybe even ask someone out, but not out of a sense of "pressure" from the message. If this message is legit, then I expect said girl to be more forward than usual, because it's she who is interested right now. She is the one who needs to prove herself in this case, not the other way around. I ain't gonna bend over backwards here.

I posted this here because I wanted to ask you if anyone else had experienced a legit message like this, or has been "pranked" in the same manner and if so how did he respond and react to it and how did it turn out in the end?
