Hello, so I have just recently started approaching women again after being in a relationship for while. I approached a couple of girls this week, but I'm not sure where I went wrong. I will give you two examples girl A and girl B.

Girl A: The first girl basically came up to me and started chatting at a bar. I ordered some food and she asked if she could have some of my fries that I wasn't eating. We hit it off and she kept touching my arm and being flirty. She told me about where she works and basically invited me out to a work event. I got her number and texted her the same night to say it was really nice meeting you. She never responded and when I called her later on in the week to come hang out she said she doesn't know who I am. I'm not sure why she completely ignored me when she gave me her real number, and that she asked me to go to a work event with her. I normally remember meeting people that I talked to during the week even if I am drinking.

Girl B: I approached a girl sitting at a bar with her friend and just said hi. They seemed really cool and it was her birthday. I asked her why she wasn't drinking anything on her birthday and ordered her a drink. We got to talking about what she does and invited me to lunch the next day. I got her number and texted her happy birthday. Although she didn't ignore my text she didn't say anything about the lunch she invited me to the night before.

I'm not really sure why girls give me their real number, but when I text they either don't reply or seem uninterested. Am I talking to the girl too long? Both girls I talked to for like 30 minutes. Can someone give me some insight as to what I could do differently?

TL:DR: When I get numbers from a girl they either ignore me or seem disinterested when I try talking to them.
