I know this is an issue with a lot of guys out there, especially browsing /r/askseddit

I'd been after a girl for a good 6 months now - not continuously, but she's in a tangential friend circle to mine so we'd run into each other and rekindle things every month or so. Then things would drop off as I tried to schedule dates, but she would always lead me on with something like "Well, we'll have to find something else to do" (at which point she'd be busy again).

One note was that this girl was weird - quiet and not very confident AT ALL for how attractive she was. Because of this, I started making excuses for her in my head - e.g. thinking stuff about how she was just perhaps not comfortable being forward with me at all because she's just quiet like that and because of our friend circle. After a while I just started breaking my rules about scheduling dates (I chased her, put up with some cancellations, etc.) because of these excuses.

Of course, my lesson ends in a typical fashion - I finally pursued her to the extent that she told me she wasn't into me (though of course she wanted to be friends, which I shot down).

I see posts like this all the time in similar situation like "This girl is flaking on me" and "Should I keep trying?". The bottom line is this: If a girl really wants to see you, scheduling dates will NOT be that hard. If she keeps giving you the runaround, just walk away.

Going WAY out of your way to pursue a girl seems like a "What do I have to lose?" situation...when in fact you DO have something to lose: Your dignity and your frame of mind.
