Hypothetically yes.
In my opinion, it's not impossible, but you'll notice that it can be a lot harder just because it (somewhat) demonstrates that you're a loner.
If this is the case, the first thing you should focus on is making friends first, then going out and seducing, but that's just my opinion.

In the words of Robert Dinero in the movie Heat,"I am alone...but I am not lonely" . I have only two sets of friends. These are true friends and they live in different states. So where I live I have no "friends". I eat out alone go to movies alone and such. But... I have several hobbies and really enjoy my work. This translates into me having large amounts of disposable income. When I want to go on a date I pick a girl off tinder or okstupid and take them out. It's easy to present your personal situation not as a loner but as a lone wolf... One of mystery .....and a man who is mysterious to women will be just as attractive to her as a guy with a large social circle. If you're the type off person that doesn't gravitate towards having a large social circle that's perfectly ok. Concentrate on what makes you happy and it will reflect outward to others.

Yes. It is possible.
Im a bit of a loner - I spend a lot of time alone. I have one close friend, and a few that I keep contact with, but don't see that often. I dont see how it has ever hindered me whatsoever. Could you elaborate on why you think its not possible to get girls without friends?

Your beliefs and thoughts are limiting yourself.
I feel like telling this story about going out alone, how it is both scary as shit and fucking fun;
New years eve 2013-2014. It was 19:30. I was sitting alone in my small room of an apartment, on the edge of my bed - all dressed up. I had made plans with a female friend of mine that I would go to her party at 23:00 (When she and her friends got home from their fancy ass dinner). I felt kind of ridiculous, since I knew it actually was a "ladies night"-party to begin with. But she said that I could come when I asked her.
I knew that the schoolbar was having a new years party, mainly it was to serve the few foreign students (I think 70% of the students at my school isnt from the country) that didnt go home during the christmas-break. I thought to myself that the place would be packed, and I could just sneak in unnoticed. So I loaded up my rucksack with a few beers and a few bottles of wine.. And nervously off I went.
As I came near the bar, I couldn't understand why noone was outside smoking - You would always see at least 2 or 3 smoking outside when the bar was open. As I approached the door I understood why. There was 5-7 people in there. No chance in hell I could just sneak in unnoticed. So I went up to the door, stood there trying to get my act together.. A few seconds passed (felt like minutes though) and I turned 180 degrees and went home.
So there I was - Where I started. Sitting nervously on the edge of my bed, feeling defeated. Then something struck me - "You know what? Fuck those people. Im fun, and im nice to be around. If they dont like me then fuck them".
Off I went. The time was 20:00 or something like that. Now more nervous than before.
So as I approached the door, my knees felt weird. It felt like my walk was funny. It wasn't fun at all. Really fucking scary actually.. Looking at those 5-7 strangers having fun from outside the door.
So went in. Everyone turned their heads and looked at me (and properly with a strange look.. Don't know. It was like I was on shrooms).
I felt awkward, as I sat down next to them. I said "Hi!" and asked if I could have one of their cups as I started pulling out a bottle of cheap white wine from my rucksack. I asked the cute polish girl next to me if she wanted some, but she didn't. None the less she was now my crutch - And I just sat there talking to her, she asked me what I was doing there all alone - And I just answered that I was going to a party later, but felt that 2300 was a bit late to start partying on new years. And tbh it was the truth. The first 10-15 minutes in there was awkward as fuck, and I felt like running away.
In about an hour the place slowly started filling up, and I had a very good time. At 23:10 (ish) my friend called me "Where are you?! Weren't you coming?!", and I quickly jumped in a taxi to leave the place where I knew noone, and was having a blast to her place where I knew most people.
So 23:30. I come to her place - Its 4-5 girls sitting around a table, drinking and not partying. I was in a fucking great mood, so it didnt bring me down. At a few minutes to midnight I talk one of the girls i n to kissing me at midnight for good luck. So at 00:00 I kissed a girl, and that would have been the most action I would have got if I had stayed. I asked the girls to go with me to town to party - But they were reluctant. Some other girl had promised to come soon, and then we would leave when she arrived. I said that she could just meet up with us later downtown - But they refused.
So I waited half an hour or so, and she still didnt show up. I told the girls id go into town alone, and left.
There I had a blast - Perhaps the most fun new years I have ever had. I ended up going home with a cute girl (And I think it was my new found confidence that did the magic that night) - Breaking a one year dryspell (after I left my ex).
My point is this - Going out alone is what brings the most fun. Sure your trip there is a lonely quest - But as soon as you actually is in a bar / club / whatever you are not alone, and if you are its your own damn fault. People go out to meet others - The place is packed with people open to meeting new people.
If you get rejected when out - Just go on to the next person, or next bar or next whatever. Its no biggie.

Self limiting beliefs:
If you think you are lonely, you are. If you think women hate lonely men, they do. If you think they will give you zero chance, they will. This is all in your head. Work on this inner game stuff.
That said, and separate of doing well in dating, I really do recommend making friends because that may help you be happier and less lonely. Try reading Dale Carnegie's book on Making friends and influencing people.
