So, went through a breakup 2 years ago, it was really hard. Took me a year and a half to get over it. In that time, I spent a lot of time alone and got to know myself better. At this point I'm very used to being single and enjoy it. I have started using online dating apps casually. There have been a handful of women that have peaked my interest and I've gone on a few dates.
About a week ago, I stumbled upon this girl I thought was really attractive. She honestly seemed like someone I wouldn't be able to keep up with, but she left her IG handle in her Bumble profile so I followed her and swiped left. A few days later, she commented on a IG post I made about being happy now and not tying your happiness to a future event. We hit it off, and pretty much texted all day for 4 or 5 days straight. Flirted, talked about visiting each other (she lives states away). We had these long texts where you'd have the little arrow to expand the text because they were so long. She's also an absolute smoke show. I hadn't felt like this since I had met my ex in college, couldn't stop thinking about her.
We decided to FaceTime one night and I think I flopped. Having been in a relationship for 6 years, one can forget how to talk to people, and I'm still relearning how to do that. It's also just a bit awkward FaceTiming someone you first spoke to 5 days prior. Since the FT call, she's gone more or less silent. Bummer!
"Should I say something? No, it hasn't been long enough. Don't want to put pressure on her. But we were talking all day for 5 days, now she's gone silent. I should tell her in the future it'd be better for her to just be straight with people. Maybe I should ask her if she's being a ghost for Halloween. " But the truth is, she just isn't interested in me anymore, I don't have to get closure. When she wanted to talk to me, she did. Now she isn't talking to me. I'm not in a place anymore where I feel needy. The 2 years of working on myself and becoming happy alone makes it much easier to let someone I'm SUPER into just go. I guess I wanted to put this here as one more testimonial on how amazing life can feel when you're 100% ok being alone. After all, not being needy IS attractive.
I didn't need her, I just wanted her. I don't need a relationship, I just want one. If she lost feelings for me, best of luck to you girl! Enjoyed our conversations while it lasted! Onto the next.
