Your opening should be no more than 4 sentences and often 2 is just fine. I like to ask a question even if it is open ended or teasing rhetorical question because I like to prompt women to respond, otherwise they tend to not go out of their way to continue correspondence.

It's always a good idea to comment on one of their pictures and (or) to comment on something they wrote in their profile. Do not compliment them based on their picture, but instead compliment or relate to information they've given in their profile and form some kind of commonality.

Escalate meeting up as early as the 2nd message, really the sooner the better. If you're 6 emails deep and have just been chatting back and forth about likes/dislikes or some random bs its likely that you won't be meeting her. Ideally you want to be exchanging texts or private emails after the 4th OkC correspondence.

Be aggressive about it, but don't press it. If you tell a woman to give you her number in the second email and she doesn't in her reply yet still seems open to corresponding with you or meeting you do not continue to ask her for the number. Once is enough, often times if they really like you and you are smooth about suggesting a meet up early on the number will just magically appear. It's always better to be forward with women, the ones that like you and things work out with will eventually admit that they were really attracted to forward and/or aggressive attitudes. It gives off that "man who goes after what he wants" vibe which is the inner game mentality you want to have anyway.

It depends a lot on her profile, but I think some general guidelines are: be brief, be different, be funny, show you read her profile, and above all give her something that's easy to respond to.

Ask to meet as soon as you have evidence of interest.

As a girl on okcupid, unless you're incredibly good looking, I won't respond to a message without a question. It's crazy difficult to just respond to statements, especially when I have to respond to a lot of messages. A lot of okcupid is trying to stand out from the crowd, especially if you're seeking more attractive ladies.

Short questions with meaningful responses and questions about my profile are most likely to get answers. Things that are way too long to read, or are too difficult to respond to (no questions) unfortunately get avoided.

Also make it personal include something that proves you read her profile. Or else she'll assume you write the same BS to everyone and just ignore you.

And not to seem like a jerk, this is exactly how I message guys I like, too.
