You remind me of a story from David Wygant. He is coaching a clueless AFC so he takes him to lunch at Whole Foods and says watch what he does. They get in line at the deli counter behind a woman and Wygant asks her, "hey is the tunafish any good here?" and strikes up a conversation. Then they get their food and eject. Later they're at a mall and Wygant is pumping up the student to do some approaches. The AFC says "I know JUST what to do!" and then he walks up to a woman and opens "hey I know this place that has the best tunafish sandwiches!"
Your openers are equally useful.

Got a link for this? :)

Alas no, I must have heard that many years ago. Wygant took down a lot of stuff that used to be on YouTube, it may have been in one of those talks. But this sort of story is one of the reasons why I like Wygant.

Same here.

They are just openers. Did you think I was giving an in depth lesson or something? When did I say " hey all you need to do is say this in this situation and it will always work."? You just sound stupid and up your own ass. Plus that story sucks, it's completely irrelevant to the situation.

Every one of these save the bar tender one are cringey. Just go off of opinion openers or observational ones if you don't want to go direct.
[–]judahman8 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Opinion openers and observational openers are also useful. These are just some openers that I have tried and used well.

For all your claims that these work, I want to see your infields. Reading your posts makes me extremely skeptical of your success because it sounds like all you do is write in a "This happened" style. I'm not saying it's impossible, but I want to actually see you in action at this point.
Yeah I'd be skeptical too. I can't record any infields for you bro. Besides not wanting to waste my time, I simply can't have videos of me doing stuff like this on the Internet. I learned this stuff just for fun, I'm not really trying to prove myself or become publicly known for pickup. It's actually better for me if people think I'm full of shit.
My close social circle is the only one that I care to show off my skills to. Who knows, maybe our paths will cross and I'll show you in person some day. Until then you can always try out what I write for yourself and see how well it works for your style. I probably won't post on here for much longer.

EDIT: These openers, like other things you've posted, come with some built in handicaps that require advanced game to overcome.
Some of them are specifically oriented towards your distinct personality, which also limits their utility.
1
If you're walking and the set you want to open is behind you. "Are you guys following me. Oh my bad it's just cute girls have been following me all day and I'm not complaining or anything it's just starting to weird me out a little."
Asking if they're following you, could fly.
Launching into the cute girls following you ALL day and how it's weirding you out, is tremendously specific and subject to failure in the real world. Could easily be interpreted as awkward and/or humble-brag.
What would work better is simply observing the context around you as you're walking, and when you turn around to make that comment, highlight something that's around all of you at that moment. Draw attention to something in the world around them, or observe something about them.
2
Super loud environment. Walk up and write your opener in your phone and hand it to her. No talking can be pretty hot. Keep it short and sweet.
Could work. Though if you're in a super loud environment like a club or bar, then you often have a ton of non-verbal ways to communicate with women that you probably ought to be using, before you resort to cold opening a girl by trying to get her to accept your phone.
This sort of move is often used by guys to number close in such environments so it could result in a lot of awkwardness.
You're better off opening in a more socially direct way, not by directing their attention away from the people and to the phone, but by engaging someone through facial expressions, gestures, dancing (if in a club) etc., if it's really that loud.
3
Opener for a bar tender. "Hey do you know any bar tricks?" If she doesn't then you can tease her about it, then show her a bar trick and say now you know one.
This can also fly, especially with someone such as yourself, who has your style.
However, for newbs, there's a higher level of investment here, as you're sending them on a fetch quest to go get a trick down well enough to perform it publicly, before they can use this line.
All that trouble, and simply getting the bartender to talk about their day or converse with them about the patrons (tons of material there to talk about with wacky drunks about), would be way easier.
Nothing wrong with low-hanging fruit.
4
For a gjrl in a grocery store or any store really. "OMG no way do you remember me? I use to sit behind you in grade school and write secret notes to you using my finger to trace out letters on your back." Play it out as long as you want then tell her you're kidding.
I mean, based on things you're written, it seems like this is a VERY specific thing that you might be able to pull off with your personality.
But for newbs, this is probably not so useful. This sort of gambit is very vulnerable to how well you can keep it together during presentation.
And on top of that, it's highly likely that it wouldn't fly, no matter how good you could present it. And on top of that, by going with this sort of convoluted routine, you're passing up a ton of great observable material around you at the grocery store that you could be opening her with.
5
A girl sitting with her parents at a restaurant. This only works if the girl leaves the table. Wait a little bit after she leaves then open the parents with a direct opener. Say something like "excuse me I can only stay for a second but that girl wouldn't happen to be your daughter would she?" "Well I just wanted to tell you that I think she's gorgeous and I'm sure your very proud of her. I figure a girl like that has got to be taken and I didn't want to embarrass her or myself by hitting on her in front of her parents so I figured this was my next best option."
Yikes.
Again, observation is going to give one far better ways of opening then something like this, which comes off awkward at best.
Good sales tactic is to not bring up ideas you don't want to mistakenly plant into the minds of people you're talking to. So when you start talking about not wanting to "embarrass," you're likely having the complete opposite effect.
There's no reason to even head in this direction unless you're wanting to unnecessarily up your difficulty curve.
Simply walking up and commenting about the situation would be more than enough. Doesn't matter if she's there or not, though it's better if she is. Comment if they seem to be having a good time. Comment on something you overheard in their conversation, etc.
6
And overall, it's far better to open with something that's relevant to the person you're talking to, than to try to walk up and sell them on accepting the random thing you were cooking up in your head.

You're basically saying these openers don't work. I've tried them, they work. By work I mean they open the set with a positive or at least neutral reaction most of the time. Situational openers also work if you come up with the right one. There's a shit ton of openers that work well. You don't have to use these and I'm not looking for feedback.

____1____
You're basically saying these openers don't work.
You might have noticed that I used the word, "newb."
Though I should have opened with it so I can edit a disclaimer into the beginning of my reply to make it cleared for others who read it.
The point is that your openers are limited because they require advanced game and or your own personality type to get them off the ground.
____2____
I've tried them, they work.
Not the point. I've already laid out the issues with them that people without your distinct personality or newbs would have.
____3____
Situational openers also work if you come up with the right one.
Situational openers are about seeing that there are often multiple"right ones."
And if you're observing, you'll see one or more of them. With the amount of confidence you're already using to get the openers off that you described, someone could easily make a situational opener fly.
____4____
You don't have to use these and I'm not looking for feedback.
Alas, this is a public forum and you're going to get feedback.
But that's not the issue: you're taking this personally when it's not. I focused on the ideas here and you took it as a personal attack.
Consider questioning why that is.
[–]judahman8 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link
I'm not going to waste my time getting into this with you. If you don't see anything wrong, then me saying something probably isn't going to help. All I can say is I can see why there's hardly ever any good content on this sub. It's too much of hassle to go into all of this stuff when you're simply trying to share some information.
[–]Moderatorrecyclablebanthas 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago* (4 children) | Copy Link
It's too much of hassle to go into all of this stuff when you're simply trying to share some information.
You're following the rules of posting and no one is censoring you here.
You posted some ideas. You got feedback. Consider it or don't.
But you're taking it personally when it's not about you. It's about the ideas.
The mods would step in if any discussion here shifted into personal attacks, but anyone should be able to handle a discussion about ideas. That's the whole point of this place: To present ideas AND discuss them.
EDIT: I can tell that you're coming from a good place and you have game, and I wouldn't bother engaging with you if I didn't think it was worth it.
[–]judahman8 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
Im not taking it personal. Its just a hassle to go back and point out all the areas where I think you are wrong but if I dont I feel bad for some reason. I feel like I shouldnt have posted in the first place if I don't combat all the nonsense you followed my post up with. That is a hassle. Yes this is my problem, I understand this is how it works. I also understand why someone wouldn't want to share any useful info on here.
Telling newbs to use situational openers is a lot like telling them to go be themselves. If you already know how to open sets good enough to effectively use situational openers then you are not a newb.
Trying to strike up rando convo with a bartender as a newb will lead you absolutely nowhere. So good luck with that. But you don't need to learn a trick and use that opener. It's just an option. It's not leading anyone anywhere, use it or don't.
You wouldn't hit on a girl at dinner with her parents if you are a newb so of course the opener is advanced. I assumed that was very obvious but I'll spell it out next time.
Telling someone to use body language to open a set in a club is about as useful as saying open a set in a club. Use common sense when using these openers. If you are on a dance floor then you obviously wont whip out your phone. But if someone is sitting or standing nearby, then it works great.
I forgot the rest of what you wrote but I really don't. My intention was to simply share some openers that were tried and tested.
[–]Moderatorrecyclablebanthas 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
Its just a hassle to go back and point out all the areas where I think you are wrong but if I dont I feel bad for some reason.
You shouldn't feel bad about it.... You shared stuff that has worked for you.
We had a longer discussion about stuff you posted before. I came to realize that your stuff was actually something that could be helpful to someone who's advanced or someone who's like your personality. So actually valuable.
The trick is, anyone not advanced who tries what you suggested, will need extra context like the commentary I provided, or they're going to get ground up in the real world. Or possibly creep someone out enough to get in real trouble.
I feel like I shouldnt have posted in the first place if I don't combat.....
I'm asking you to question these assumptions. Your ideas are not black or white, either 100% correct and unassailable, or 100% wrong.
You're assuming the conversation to be a battle. It's not.
Telling newbs to use situational openers is a lot like telling them to go be themselves.
Only, I was a little more detailed than simply saying "be yourself" or "go situationally open."
I described paying attention and exact details about how it would be used in those situations you mentioned, as an alternative or augmentation to what you were suggesting.
What I posted in reply was intended as an appendix for other readers who came to your post. A supplement.
And you assumed it was a shot off the port bow of your ship.... an attack. But it wasn't about you.
If you already know how to open sets good enough to effectively use situational openers then you are not a newb.
Situational openers require attentiveness. Paying attention is a key skill that anyone trying to get good at seduction, NEEDS to get good at if they're not already. It's necessary if anyone hopes to escalate on a girl and not run afoul of sexual assault or rape charges.
And the best part is that paying attention is not really that hard to do for most people. Unless there's some sort of disorder or physical handicap to overcome, we all have the same hardware to work with, that we all could be using to pay attention with.
Trying to strike up rando convo with a bartender as a newb will lead you absolutely nowhere. So good luck with that.
I agree.
And I am not sure why you're misrepresenting my position as "striking up rando convo," when paying attention using that in conversation is the complete opposite thing.
If you are on a dance floor then you obviously wont whip out your phone.
It's obvious to you and I.
But you suggested walking up to someone in a loud place and opening by handing them your phone.
Dance clubs are loud places and they're frequently posted about here, especially by newbs. So by commenting on that, I was helping any readers to better use the information you presented, with extra context.
How about you stop trying to shoot the messenger. It's not about you.

I feel you. It's all good bro. I'm naturally argumentative and maybe I was taking it personally a bit. I'm likely just frustrated about other things that are going on right now and it had nothing to do with you or your comment. I'm sorry if I came off like a dick.

Don't sweat it. Wasn't offended. :) Game on.
