Does anyone have some good openers that ACTUALLY WORK and have been field tested in this situation?

Not specifically tested in pickup, but a common situation i had with a friend was distribution of flyers in a public place. For me it was at my campus in a main thoroughfare. Most students on a college campus are already dismissive of these situations as they are constantly bombarded with them. If they do take the flyer they toss it at the next available garbage can. His solution was to state the obvious and ask the passerby "Hey can you throw this flyer away for me?" With the proper delivery it would almost always elicit a smile and would quite frequently disarm or even stop the person or small group. From there its like any interaction.

Another tactic he used because he was a pure natural was to within earshot guess their name. Works much better once eye contact has been established. If he got their attention with the guess, there were any number of ways to go with it. Again, would often slow or stop people and would break them out of their bustle to get to their destination.

I guess what im getting at is that in either scenario, youre not really trying to stop them but letting curiosity or humor make them want to slow down and interact.

I once saw a video of Mystery explaining this dilemma. In most cases stopping them when travelling in an opposite direction is too confrontational and triggers a "flight" mechanism. However, trying to approach while travelling the same direction is also really tricky. If you're behind the target it seems really creepy as if you are following her. The best way is to be travelling the same way but in front of her and pretty much be talking over your shoulder or to the side.

I'm not too sure how much helps this is. I try to avoid moving game when possible so I'm not sure how valid this advice is. Let me know how it works out for you

After thinking about it for a day: I did have one idea. I saw my friend one time walks backwards next to the girl until she stopped. So here's my idea.

Smile. Get good eye contact (force it if you have to)
Jog backwards next her.
Opener "Are you shy? Because you were just looking right into my eyes and you didnt says hi"
If she doesn't stop qualify her.
If she says she has a boyfriend ask what is his name? (saw that one on Sasha's video) Basically, if she pauses you tell her she's lying in a playful way and make fun of her.
Transition will always be "So what are you up to today?"

I'm going to try this tomorrow anyone wanna give it a whirl.
