I matched with a girl on tinder a few weeks ago, and we've been messaging every several days. We finally connected on facebook, and she apologised for the sparse communication on the app, as she doesn't use the app very often, and she's busy with work. I asked her what her intentions were, and she said something along the lines of "i want to meet someone, and if we have a great time together and have similar interests, we can take things further :)". I really appreciate her directness, and I told her I guess I'm looking for the same. We're based in Australia, and she just came over from Europe this year for work, after finishing her studies at home. Her visa expires at the end of the year, but she's coming back next year, and told me she's fallen in love with the country. I'm from a European background too, different country but close I guess. So, we have a lot to talk about: similar interests, similar culture, etc.

Now, I know it's impossible to judge someone online, but I tend to form impressions of people based on their profiles/pics/bios, and she seems like a really down to earth person, and we have similar interests, based on our conversations. So, I'm really keen to meet her. Now that I have her on facebook, we're messaging quite regularly. I asked her if she'd like to meet up, and she said sure. I suggested next weekend, since I really can't do this weekend. Turns out there is a complicating factor, it's her birthday next weekend, and she mentioned this with a smiley face in her message.

This step is quite crucial. I plan to ask her out for real in the next few days. How do I keep her interested all week, without coming off as clingy? For what it's worth, the last girl I went out with was texting me every single day for over a week beforehand. The one before that, we only messaged for two or three days before meeting up.

So, if I do meet up with her, how should I go about it? English isn't her first language, and she sometimes comments on it, but I keep reassuring her it's fine. Maybe I'm a bit crazy, but I researched this online, and i found out that in her country's culture, they are usually very direct and honest people. I honestly think this directness is a good thing, as I have Asperger's, which makes social cues difficult for me. How do I handle it being her birthday if we do go out? I've been on a handful of dates recently, and i wasn't sure how to show my interest without being too forward, so they lost interest. I have a really strong gut feeling that this time, things may go further, to a second date at least. I can't help but feeling this, it feels so real, even when I try to analyse the situation with pure reason and logic. I've learned to trust my intuition, as it's usually been right in the past. Maybe it's just wishful thinking, though.

TL;DR: how to drip hints on a date of real interest, without being creepy, to someone who wants to meet someone and is just open to the idea of dating if things go well. Guy with Aspergers.
