This is such a tough situation. Personally I've been going to the beach and bars (they're open where I am) so no one is wearing a mask. I think you can still ask a girl out when she is wearing a mask, if she has nice eyes or a friendly expression.

Unfortunately, people some can look great with masks and look very unattractive without it. If you're a better person than I am maybe it doesn't matter so much. I recently got a waitresses' number and when I saw her without mask I immediately knew I wasn't attracted to her anymore.

Moral of the story, make sure you get to see the full 100% before you commit unless you don't care about facial features.

I told a girl she was cute and as she laughed she said thank you "but how do you know?" I told her it was a whole vibe basically. You do that and you can start complimenting how theyre dressed and the energy tjey give off. That's more interesting to a lot pf women than simply whether they're physically attractive.

So I'm recently single after almost a decade and I've been starting to hone my opening conversation skills finely, trying to build my network of faces and personalities while doordashing. It's fun. But is quite difficult to determine if someone is attractive. I aim for a chuckle, or a giggle...IMO, an "opening line" as your describing is not going to be efficient. So far, here's some of the things I've really picked up on which applies to everyone, not just women. When they are comfortable in convo, casually pull your mask down and some people will mirror. Throw in flirting when you it's right and your golden.

Speak efficiently. Loud, to the point, and clear.
Only start a conversation with someone you actually find may be interesting, or you can share something common with already. This way your not wasting your time. (They can tell...) And don't tell women if such n such is so gorgeous or her shoes/hair/nails etc is nice if you don't actually think it's nice...why's it nice, why's it funny, why is it interesting?
Speak to listen, NOT to reply. Ask them about them. They think that's funny? What would they do in this situation? How did you end up doing/getting/being so n so? Etc. I've literally asked the dumbest / most serious questions from the hip because Im just curious by nature and had great engagements. Why not, they're complete strangers you may never see again, also.... you might be surprised at how many people won't shut up the moment they're comfortable.
Use eye contact. Be confident. Be engaged. Be critically honest and be funny when the body language and tone is right. Bring your inner character.
Dont be too agreeable. Be forward, confront conflict and learn to agree/disagree.
Stop talking if your not getting much feedback...they're just not interested.

As far as sealing the deal, I have not. I've had a couple solid connections where I strongly believe I could have pursued furthering the relationship successfully but havnt committed yet....once the ex has moved out of my house....(just a few days!) I'll be ready to live more freely and take my social life to the next level.

I Dont think there is any one right answer, I often get the vibe from people in a mask the don't want to approached due to fear of death from the media about covid

Same situation, I use the same default direct opener.

Now I just say “I liked your sense of style” or “ I like your vibe”. I still sometimes say “you’re cute” and haven’t been questioned in it yet, but it would probably happen at some point. Problem is the last 2 numbers I closed I met them later and they were not attractive without the mask 🤨
