So I have been on and off hitting on girls, depending on my mood. It's worth noting that I hit on girls independently of how ready I am; it doesn't matters if I'm sweaty, wearing dirty clothes, hair unkept, feel I have no skills, feel to lazy to actually use the skills I got. I just do it when I feel attracted to a girl unless I'm emotionally unstable at the time.

The outcome has been varied, even though I'm still too shy to go for the kiss without a verbal hint.

However the last time, I reached a point where I had been rejected by enough girls to know that being rejected isn't so bad. It actually depends on how you approach, but as a general rule, as long as you aren't very rude (you can even get away with being rude up to a point), the actual way you are rejected is very soft.

The girl won't tell you to go hell, tell her female or male friends to protect her from you, yell at you, make a scene, laugh at you. All the outcomes I have gotten are:

  • Getting less attention, let's say 5 out of 10 girls that reject me
  • Flattering the girl, 4 out of 10 girls
  • Surprise, 1 out of 10

There are exceptions though:

  • If the girl feels awkward about rejecting you, she will avoid you. It happens more often with inexperienced girls who think that they will break your heart, but if you don't make a big deal out of the rejection and talk to her a for few minutes after you get rejected, this won't happen.

  • Attention seekers probably won't go yelling about it to every corner the next second, but they might mention it at the worst possible time (when you are hitting on another girl). Be aware that this mean both loud girls, and not-so-loud girls that weird uncalled unrelated ideas to make an impact. I don't have enough experience yet to know how to minimize these consequences. Acting like you are mad at them only makes them increase their efforts, until they reach a point where they are actually mad at you for putting pressure on them, and the problem will dissappear for a short while. This trick decreases it's effectivity with each usage.

  • If a girl is mad at you, she'll try to get back at you until she has cooled down. Possibly by shaming you in front of people you care.

On the bright side, all of these exceptions are for girls who are close to your social circle.
