First a little about me as a person, then my success.
I don't have many friends, recently my friend cashe was diminished through losing all my contacts. I sent out some Fb messages and Snapchats to people who's # I had, to text me with their names. Very few did so.
I believe myself to be a very shy person; Quiet, can't think of anything to say, my opinion is silent, etc. But I'm very cocky at times, especially when it comes to cars. Being a gearhead has boosted my confidence greatly from what it used to be, but I find it hard to transfer it to other situations. I've been told that I should take more risk and be more confident about everything and less cautious.
The few friends I do have, deem me as an extremely outgoing, chatty, opinionated type. I think this is simpley because in small groups of people I know, and some I don't, I feel safe. In big groups or situations where I only know 1 or two people I shut down. Thus becoming Shy guy. Which makes it difficult to meet new people in unfamiliar settings, especially girls. Dateable girls. Which are hard to come by in my area, being in a college town. I've found most girls either are taken or just bitches.
I've been "Job hunting" for a little while, having quit my previous job because the shit was getting too deep for my boots,. When really I just did an app here and there, living between my parents places and doing odd jobs for bits of cash. Well today I applied to 6 different places using a few tips for basic interactions here and there. I think they went pretty well, hell I even had a decent chat with what turned out to be the area manager of one of the jobs, and I didn't know it until I shook his hand and he told me. Hopefully I get THAT job.
Through those encounters I was filled with a confidence I usually don't have. It was an odd feeling because it was like I was in a situation where my confidence was typically skyhigh.
So I had one app online to do and decided to go to the local cafe I regular. Its kind of a Hipster/oldies places. Great atmosphere, background music, interesting people. While I ordered my coffee and my cashier happened to be this really gorgeous brunette (I have a thing for those) and feeling the unusual confidence of the day, struck up chitchat based on her Nirvana t-shirt. This brought her to complement my Johnny Cash T shirt, which she stated she had the same one. She said it was her first day and I complemented her on the good job she was doing. Then I sat down to do my app. Ocasionally Id sneak a peek at her, and caught her once doing the same. Gave a smile and looked her dead in the eyes. She smiled and quickley looked away. Then I overheard her being told it it was quitting time for her and she left. I gave her a wave and she was gone.
I kicked myself after she left. Not only was I given a few chances to get her #, but I had also spaced getting her name. I was floating on a cloud and it zipped right by.
Luckily, I frequent that Cafe and can hopefully fix my mistake with a "Hey I forgot to ask your name the last time we spoke". So I'm not that beaten up by it, but I still feel dumb. That being said, I feel better knowing that I became that outgoing person and noticed somethings I could do to keep that happening, as well as not tovforget such important things as asking for a name. Its all a learning experience.
Thank you for reading and any little tips or notes toward my outgoingness, approach or anything really, would be greatly appreciated!
(Please excuse spelling or grammar errors, I'm typing with my phone and it doesn't like to cooperate. At all.)
