Just focus on having fun and don't worry too much about it. You don't want to be that guy who peaks in high school anyway, so even if you're not a fucking rock star right now, who cares? You've got your whole life ahead of you.

And grinding is pretty harmless. Your parents are just spazzing out over nothing. Shit, I did way worse when I was your age, and they probably did too.

Weird amount of intervention here. They appear to be preoccupied with irrational fears. Strange. Have you asked them why they keep telling you this?

Okay or not, is irrelevant. The important thing here is to realize what you want, and that grinding isn't always on the path to something more happening. It's often a dead-end. So as long as you realize that it's likely just fun and games that doesn't go anywhere, you'll be fine. If you only want fun, then it's fine.

However my folks keep on saying it's considered trashy and wrong. Btw my parents are far from conservative if you're wondering.

I wasn't wondering. However you are contradicting yourself. You say they're not conservative, but whatever the case may be, they most certainly ARE conservative in this. So it doesn't matter how liberal they are in other areas.

I don't understand the question. You're asking whether your parents are speaking some majority opinion? They are parents, man. Parents are infamous for being out-dated. When in doubt, they're more likely to be speaking for the old school generation, than any majority.

The truth here is that grinding is dirty. Dirty fun. Dirty fun that some people take too seriously, and others don't. That's it. Who the fuck cares whether your parents are right and "it's considered" a certain way by the mass populace. What matters is what you and your peers think of it.

Don't get trashy with it. If she starts getting Niki Minaj on you, I'm not sure what to tell you. It's prom and y'all are kids. You're gonna act silly, pictures are gonna get taken and videos, too, I'm sure. Don't do anything you wouldn't want your parents to see, but don't not be yourself. Your parents want what's best for you. They don't want you to end up on you tube being the laughing stock of your freshman year as "that guy". But like I said: you're kids and it's prom. I'm 30. We did it in 2001 and the entire senior class went stag. Have fun. Oh and if and when she grinds on you, stay flaccid my friend and try not to leak. K?
