We’ve all read the classics like “never double text”, “always escalate”, “women are all the same”, and “don’t share your feelings first”, among many others. But I’ve seen a lot of posts by people that aren’t really helped by these absolute platitudes and with good reason: they can’t be applied absolutely.
So I thought I’d give a few more specific examples on some of these and how to actually use critical thinking in applying them. I’ll talk about double texting today and add more topics later on.
- Never double text: don’t set this in stone. There are times when double texting can work for you. Texting is never the problem; attraction is. If a woman is attracted to you, double texting by itself won’t suddenly kill that attraction. It’s what and when you double text. And there’s times when double texting might actually make a woman that was feeling uncomfortable about texting you back do just that.
Example: let’s say you’ve been texting a woman for a while and been on a date that was great for both and things seem awesome. Now one day you’re texting and she says she’s gotta go do something but will text you in just a bit and you text back “ok babe”. The whole night comes and goes and she hasn’t texted. The next morning she still hasn’t texted.
Most people say don’t text again until she does. The problem is that it might’ve been that she fell asleep watching tv and started work early the next morning, and SHE now feels uncomfortable about texting you because she might feel she needs to apologize for not texting you, and that leads her to not texting you! Women get nervous and avoid conflict just as much as men do. Now you don’t text her back to protect your ego, and the longer time passes the less likely you guys are going anywhere.
So in this example, a simple “good morning babe”, without hinting that you’re upset that she didn’t text you, can actually make her feel AT EASE that she doesn’t have to apologize at all. And that can lead to her texting you back and you guys restarting something that would’ve been killed had you not double texted. On top of that, it shows her you don’t care and aren’t upset by her not texting all the time.
Now, if she doesn’t text for more than 2 days or doesn’t respond to your double text the day later either, then yes, move on.
