Never done it before but I would say it's all about first impressions.

Every speed date starts off pretty similar, how's it going, you do this often, what do you do, what's fun for you.....

By the end it gets monotonous. Set yourself different by being different. Offer a drink, ask something random like fav TV show or fav dinosaur.

Try to assess the other before sitting down. Write notes on what the other person was like but also how you acted. This may sound strange but select yes for everyone so you can learn what worked or what didn't.

Most importantly have fun and relax. It's only 5 mins.

Be personal, express a lot of emotions, relaxed posture with open body language, smile when the time is right (no giggling).

A nice trick to stand out of the other guys is standing up or leaving shortly the table for a reasonable excuse (e.g. Would you like a drink?) during this mini-date.

Not only this girl will remember you because of that but also the other will see you and will be waiting for 'the guy who was standing up'.
