There's an important difference between being interested in and enjoying something "nerdy" like Star Wars, and actually thinking that it's important in some way.

Plus, though there have always been female fans, the last couple of decades have brought about a real shift in how appropriate it is for women to be fans openly.

Stereotypes are born in some aspect of reality. So, if you have to ask....you know its true.

Now, all that being said. I don't think you should give up what you like. But, you should for sure have a varied interest and hobby list. The guys that scream virgins are those who circle everything back to that one nerdy, niche talking point. I have some nerd in my system, I game a bit....even played Magic for a while. But, its not a focus of my conversations unless someone is really interested.

It all depends. If dress like a lame and you just so happen to be wearing a star wars shirt then it's probably going to add to the negative perception she already has. If you just bring up star wars out of nowhere and she isn't even into star wars at all then it's going to hurt you. If you talk about star wars because it's relevant to the conversation but you just go on and on about it then it's going to hurt you unless she's really into star wars.

This isn't a star wars thing, this is for just about anything. Video games, anime, sex, cooking, comic books, it doesn't really matter what it is. It's ok to be way into something but if you annoy people with it then you're a lame.

I'm into both Star Wars and Star Trek and it has had 0 effect on my ability to get women, in fact I'm good friends with a few really gorgeous girls(who are already taken) who are big into that stuff, video games, anime, you name it. You're better off drawing in people who appreciate your interests than try and cover up or fake yourself, it will unravel eventually might as well just be 100% you right from the start.
