Whether it’s in business or getting dates, those with an execution mentality tend to drastically outperform everyone else.

In the time some people would spend deliberating on making one decision, those with an execution mentality would have already acted and are planing their next move.

As a person who used to work on satellites and rockets, I was working on projects which were very unforgiving of mistakes. There was no way of getting the rocket or spacecraft back after it was on its way. It’s not like you can pull a rocket that is in flight over to the side of the road and then pop the hood to fix something. Thus its important to triple and quadrupled check everything before executing a mission. Which is good practice for such a project.

But not everything in life is literally rocket science, where a small mistake can result in a catastrophic fireball. Perfection is often not necessary, and there is often never a perfect time to act. The best time generally being as soon as possible.

It’s common to suffer from analysis paralysis, where you overthink something to the point that it prevents all forward motion. If you never act and pull the trigger, you will never get any results. Many opportunities are time sensitive, and a failure to act is a default loss.

When you are trying to initially learn how to do something, it’s often better to innovate and try new things quickly, learn from failures and then apply the new knowledge to improve.

This is especially true when it comes to improving one’s social skills. The more interactions with people you have, the faster you can learn and improve.

The willingness to take action and repeatedly go for what you want far outweighs other factors such as intellect and natural skill. Since without taking any action, nothing will ever occur. Furthermore, when it comes to working to improve your social skills, there is no potential downside and only a tremendous upside.
