Hello seddit, just returning from a nice eve at work. I’m a waiter at an Italian Restaurant. Pretty casual vibe, young clientele and families for the most part. I usually don’t have any sort of desire to talk extensively with tables unless, well you know, I might make a good tip out of it. (Don’t forget people tip your 20%)

Today, that was different. I spotted a girl sitting down by herself waiting for one more. This chick was blonde with a pretty smile and gorgeous blue eyes. Immediately I knew I’d want to do or say something, but I wanted to tread carefully so I didn’t get fired (yeah worst case scenario, I know)

So I started talking to her, figuring out her wine tastes and teasing her about how long she was spending looking at the menu. I was afraid that she’d be joined by a guy, but when she was just casually joined by a girl, I knew I needed to do something. So the entire night, I’d intermittently come back to her and her friend and chat them up very casually. I made sure to make it relaxed, and honestly treated them like they were long time friends of mine. Casual banter (“that dish is really spicy, I’m not sure you could handle it”) occurred throughout the night. And finally at the end, I decided to make my move.

Corny as it be. I wrote on their receipt if she could “Rate my service on a scale of 000-000-0000 to 999-999-9999.” Then with a blank spot set up for the number.

I’ve worked at this restaurant for 4 years and I’ve never done that. But I didn’t want this chance to slip away.

Sure enough, I got said number, and we’ve been conversing for a few hours. Next step: the first date.
