Hey dawgs.
This is 2018.
I already know the answer to my question. I want to have both of the things I seem to want.
And what I want is this: Tinder skills, and seduction skills.
Because, here's where I'll be honest. Sometimes it feels like I'm not up to date with the alignment I want to have with technology, and more deeply, with the changing face of humanity in the coming decades. The times are changing and how people find themselves, too.
It feels like apps like Tinder and what'll ultimately replace it (e.g., Black Mirror episode, Hang the DJ) can be leveraged to skip needing to solely rely on offline social skills (but not ultimately replace for the time being!). Sometimes though, I think... why would I need to invest in becoming a well-rounded socially skilled person if I can just spend time on electronic means and easily get matches once I've set up the right profile. So Tinder, et. al can be seduction killers.
And I start to think. Ultimately, the role of seduction (for me) is to find intimacy in connection with women. What is it about seduction that is enticing to me that could feel like a loss if I focus my efforts elsewhere? Immediately, I think—losing the chance to have the right set of social skills, out in the real world, that communicate confidence and are welcoming in the sexiness of their honesty, for one. For two, I'll be honest—using an element of deception to convince women they feel my irresistible self, particularly with women that don't feel an initial attraction towards me.
That shit just no current transhuman medium is currently able to capture. The chance to do that in the real, so to speak, is wonderful and hasn't made being socially skilled redundant yet.
So now I realize Tinder, and other apps are things that should be an outer layer on a solid, well-built self. The rest follows naturally, I would think. And still, I'm inclined to ask. Anyone else feel this sort of disconnect? How have you resolved, made peace with it, and so on?
