So at this point dudes we really should talk about date ideas. The fact of the matter is that if you take that pretty lady on a date that doesn’t quite cut it, there’s a pretty solid chance there won’t be a second one. You want there to be a second, third, fourth date and beyond? Then you need to avoid these dating dont’s!

Dinner

Picture this scene: You dress up in a simple button up shirt with a nice pair of pressed chinos and your chelsea boots. You’re looking really dressed up. But here comes that lady you’re seeing and she’s wearing yoga pants and a sweatshirt. Awkwaaaaaaard. There’s now all this pressure on her and she’s not going to want to talk a whole lot. There’s also this question at the end of the night of whose going to pay and you then have to deal with how expensive or how cheap the bill was, who pays for the first date in 2019 (as an aside you should offer to pay but if she doesn’t offer to pay or attempt to pay instead then she probably isn’t worth a 2nd date either).

Movie

I want to make one thing clear. Any potential date idea that puts you in a situation where you can’t talk to her for an extended period of time is an absolute disaster of an idea. You’re not getting to know her. You’re not making any sort of human connection with her. She’s not getting to know you. No attraction is being built. No tension is being built. Let’s also not forget that movie choice can impact the mood of the date. You think she’s going to want to go out with the guy that took her to the movie that got a 2% on Rotten Tomatoes?

Anything With Family

Guys, please do not bring your mom to a date or bring your first date to an event which involves your mom. I’ve heard multiple ladies complain about meeting their dates moms, dads, grandmas, grandpas, etc. I don’t care how cool your mom is or how close y’all are it is absolutely awkward for dates to meet their dates parents and calling it presumptuous is an understatement. But even more important to note, your mom is not as cool as my mom or my girlfriend’s mom.

Anything at Your Place

Let me caveat this one. Having one of you host dinner or something is an excellent idea for the fourth, fifth, etc, date. The reason that this is a good idea for your fourth and later dates is the exact same reason why it is a terrible first date idea. Having someone over for the first time can be a harrowing experience for them and it sub-communicates a certain expectation you may or may not have of her that any aware female will absolutely understand. Chances are she has seen at least a couple of decent looking places and a couple of awful ones. She isn’t going to have any idea what she’s walking into when she comes to your place. You are definitely going to want to have built up a certain comfort level before inviting her into your home.

Bottom Line

The key to a good first date is low pressure and opportunities to connect. Anything that takes away from those two things is going to be a hindrance on figuring out if that person you’re talking to is worth your time. Best case scenario, she feels awkward and doesn’t really want a second date. Worst case scenario, she is absolutely wrong for you and continues t go out with you despite not really connecting with you. You deserve better.

Very Respectfully,

Darrell
