I don't think those differences are gender based.

Looking for reasons to accept someone is a scarcity-based approach. When you have a scarcity mindset, you are looking for reasons to accept someone because you feel you don't have that many options, so you will compromise.

Looking for reasons to reject someone comes from an abundance mindset. If you already have plenty of people in your life, then anybody new needs to work hard to gain access to you.

The only way that those two different mindsets are related to gender is that typically girls (especially hot ones) have a lot more guys approaching them so they end up in a screening mode.

Guys don't get this as often, so they are usually trying to qualify.

My aunt had an abundance mindset, as described by sormenkynsi. She always found a fault in somebody and figured she would eventually find somebody she was 100% similar too, even if they were 99%, it wasn't enough.

That mindset can be dangerous in the long run. You'll always figure that somebody better will come along. Now, at 55, she regrets this every day. She's very lonely.

Don't be a settler, but don't be too high of a reacher.
