If I may offer a counterpoint,

A lot of lonely people are hung up on wanting 'a girlfriend'. They lay awake in bed thinking of this person, who does not actually exist, as they are creating it in their minds. This magical creature who can fill that hole that they have, and would have these traits, and watch these movies, cook this type of food, etc.

This is bullshit because it's like getting really depressed over how they cancelled Seinfeld. Those new episodes might've been junk, you'll never know because they never existed, so what the fuck? Find another show that's still funny, even if it's not what you imagined. Laugh. Love. Expand.

'Just a girl' indeed, but 'not just any girl' as well. Every human is unique and they all have things they can contribute to your life, and being 'a girl' does not make them less subject to social selection. You want all of your 'girls' to be 'the girl' (or at least make them feel that way!)
