....Not quite.

As some of you have noticed and messaged the mods about, there have been fewer posts actually posting to Seddit of late. We have been looking into what is going on and there appear to be a few things going on here, but the long and short of it is that fewer posts are posting.

It hasn't been a complete embargo: I just took down a post a couple days ago by an "18F" asking who here wanted to have sex with her. :|

Thanks to u/ItIsICoachCal for pointing me in a direction that led me to find that a LOT of things are simply being filtered out. As for what's being filtered out..... Well, that's a mess.

A sampling of what I see at the top of the list currently:

I could go on, but suffice to say, it's a lot of stuff that shouldn't be here anyway for the most part.

The mods didn't do anything different as of a week ago, so it's one of a few things:

  • A wave of you guys are tripping off Reddit's spam filters
  • A wave of you guys have bad karma and/or new accounts
  • A combination of the two.

That said, the mods will be checking the spam filter for the time being and letting what we can through. We are getting bombarded with messages from people asking for their stuff to be approved, even when it breaks the subreddit's rules. Just realize that we're more likely to respond if your post isn't breaking the rules.

Now, the weird thing about all this is that the mods here hadn't changed any of the settings a week ago.

We might experiment with the Spam Filters we already have, but the problem is, those filters were upped months ago to put a stop to guys like the Ugly Pic Guy who spammed/posted several times a day for YEARS asking if he looked too skinny in his pictures.

So, there's a limit to what we can tinker with.

All that said, we have been worried about Reddit's new emphasis on their Content Policy. I'm fucking serious, you guys. Go read it.

If a person under 18 comes here to post about how to get laid, which is one of the things this sub is about, that could arguably violate their policy.

So, some changes were made today.

  • The sub has been changed to an +18 community so that we've done our due diligence to at least attempt to keep minors out of the kinds of conversations we end up having here about sex. We may revisit this change, depending on the results. But we're trying it out for now.

Also, in an attempt to prevent brigading from subs like the Female Dating Advice sub:

  • The sub has been changed to Restricted, which simply means that people have to subscribe before they can post or comment here.

These changes are on a trial basis. And if anyone has a good point about negative ramifications of these 2 changes, comment below, please.
