start small. These are basic necessities for conversation. If you feel like you cant jump right in, take smaller steps

the eye contact game is a good place to start. Whenever you make eye contact with anyone, guy or girl, stranger, friend, whoever, never be the one to break eye contact first. Make it a habit, and consciously hold eye contact.

After you have this down, add a smile into the mix. Every time you hold eye contact, try to naturally smile. If they smile, say hello, "i know smiling is contagious", literally anything. there is no correct way to make progress, as long as you are moving forward somehow.
