Did you make a move on her. Show some intent either verbally or physically?

Unfortunately you can't force attraction in a woman.

But you need to find out if she's attracted to you or not which is why you try to slowly escalate. If you didn't make any sort of move that COULD be why she moved on (thinking you were just being friendly or whatever)

It could also be the case that you were just not her type and she was being friendly. Conversation will always go dead if only party is actually interested/attracted in a cold approach situation

You are already in a good position since you can start convesations easily! If u walk up to a woman and start a conversation, keep it short, lighthearted, flirt a little bit (compliments, smile, eyecontact, etc.), exchange information and then leave.

By being in her company for a small amount of time, making her feel good and staying myserious (because you left fairly quick, 3-5 mins) she will have you on her mind for the rest of the night/day(s). Because she has your information, SHE can reach YOU. If she reaches out to you she's clearly interested, if not, than its cool too! If you are very interested in her, than you can reach out to her but from there it will be a bit harder to figure out of shes interested in u too.
