Damn, fascinating read! I've felt for a while that somehow what I call approach anxiety is actually insecurity and pain stemming from my unhealthy and loveless family situation. I confront a deep seated feeling of not being good enough. Insecurity masked as bravado.

I was afraid of talking to strangers. (In a way, I am still am, but I can handle it now :D )

Sometimes I'm "tired", "not bothered", "she's not my type but the truth is, in the back of my head, I'm still that shy person all these years.

It's tough to break the wall down but I'm Workin on it slowly by being genuinely interested in people.
