I'm born and raised on Oahu, and I think that there are a few preconceptions that should be addressed for any member of this community who comes here and has pick up in mind. If this offends people I am sorry.

  • First and foremost Waikiki beach is not going to have the best selection of women, the most fit and most attractive women usually know enough people to take them to cleaner/nicer and less crowded beaches. Waikiki beach is generally unimpressive but going to Sandy's, Sunset beach, or Kailua or Lanikai sometimes feel like a model shoot.
  • Military personnel typically occupy the clubs advertised on the radio, they are generally the most courteous people in uniform but the biggest douche bags in the off time, they make Jersey shore look tame at times. Also the girls there are unattractive, favor the military men and sleep with all of them. Less known clubs typically bring a better clientele.
  • Demographic here is predominantly Asian, and Asian women are raised very conservatively. A typical approach of buying a drink or a simple introduction is creepy to many of them. But Asian men here are also raised in a similar manner to where they don't approach women, leaving the floor open to other men. Also be warned some local people (these are usually of Polynesian decent, they have a very strong family mentality) don't like Caucasians, if someone is acting hostile to you and you are called "haole (pronounced how-lee) " it maybe best to move on.
  • Bars and pubs are mostly centralized in Waikiki and china town, they typically serve clientele in the mid 20s to mid 30s as most of the younger women go to clubs.
  • Also do not go to Waianae, especially at night, its not a local secret other than something that may hurt tourism. I remember watching Dog the Bounty Hunter and he even made the restriction of leaving Waianae once the sun goes down. But they do have nice beaches but they are often homeless tent cities.

Will add more if I remember

Edit:

  • Hilo was voted most drunk city in America but lacks taverns/pubs/bars/clubs but there are house parties galore you just gotta make some friends. Also try the "Braddah Kimo's" 155 proof rum, most potent liquor I've drank, and I'd say it kicks more than grain alcohol.
  • The University isn't surrounded by much, there is a bar next to it but Thursday seems like the only busy night. Other than that its not a college town type of thing and our Greek life here is a joke.
