Go out and see as many girls as possible. Have enough girls that you at least talk to/hangout with that you never have to worry about "the one that got away" because no matter what, THERE IS ALWAYS SOMEONE BETTER OUT THERE. RSD has some good stuff on oneitis, check them out.

This is really helpful, I never thought of oneitis as something that can happen with a girl you already hooked up with. I am going to apply all my oneitis knowledge to the girl that recently broke my heart - thanks.

Keep expectations low. You aren't in love with her; you're in love with an idea that you've constructed about her. You're in love with your projection of her. You don't know her so you're just filling in the gaps with you, which is why she "seems so much like me!".
You do this because you hope that falling in love will alleviate your existential pain and will finally make you feel whole, complete, and at peace. No woman will do that for you. Treat a woman as a traveling partner on that journey with you - she is not the destination itself.
That's about as much pithy sage-sounding advice I have to administer. My practical answer is get out there and just keep doing it and it will hurt less each time.
