If they're perceptive, faking it won't work, but that doesn't mean it's not a viable path for improvement. If you fake it, you're likely to score some points with some people at various times, and as long as you don't get too down on yourself when it goes poorly, this will help you to build genuine confidence in your ability to interact with others, and perhaps your general self-esteem as well.

Faking it will only take you so far. It's useful when you're just starting out because it's really hard to be outcome independent and have an abundance mentality if you're coming from a point where you've got zero experience with women. Faking confidence will be enough to get you numbers, K-closes and maybe even some F-closes with drunk girls. It's when you continue having dates that the underlying lack of confidence will manifest itself and the girl will definitely pick up on it and lose interest.

While these wins may be hollow and will eventually dry up, a W is a W. This will help you set yourself on a path to fostering true inner confidence. Getting even a little bit of experience will have a ten-fold effect on your confidence. Ultimately though, confidence will come a lot easier when you're not working on getting girls, but when you're working on making yourself a better person.

I definitely agree with cinonym and kingcal that it works to a point and only on some types of girls. I believe to attract beautiful girls with high self esteem we first need to have a true confidence.

Faking it and having it are the same. Confidence is what you put out. Fake it and you will have it.
