I found this excellent GIF in /r/oddlysatisfying today.

It's a perfect example of how and why the concept of push/pull works.

You are the diaphragm at the bottom of the pool. The water is her emotional state.

When you push, you're teasing, or acting aloof/uninterested, or generally giving her a reason to question your interest. When you pull, you're showing your interest, maybe complimenting, or even just outright making it clear that you want her.

Now, when water is left alone, it always returns to a calm and even state. If you don't push/pull long enough, you don't get to cash in later on the work you just did. It dies back down and is gone.

And similarly, you can't only pull or _only push. All that does is displace the water.

But if you use push/pull correctly, alternating your effect on her emotional state, and do it long enough, her attraction will explode on you and all you have to do is be there to collect the result.

Gentlemen, I can't think of a more perfect representation of this principle. I hope the visual helps any of you who are struggling with this concept.
