What needs to be 'learnt' in modern game?

Game is changed a lot because you need some values in your life. Women should by byproduct of your lifestyle. Old times it all about techniques but they dont work well.

However, people who promote this newer model still say ''learn'' game. I'm thinking 'what needs to be learnt?!!

And even if they somehow didn't already know that, it would take about 12 seconds to 'learn'

When we get right down to it, game can be boiled down to the following:

Confidence. The ability to confidently and comfortably express (non-verbally especially) what one wants.
Empathy. The ability to tune into the other person, pick up on what they want, and offer that to them. (Calibration)
Boundaries. The ability to draw your own lines and only offer up what you're actually okay offering up. (Example: Offering help is fine, but offering to help at the expense of constantly sacrificing yourself, is going too far.)
Logistics. One needs the place and opportunity for things to escalate, assuming one wants to escalate to sex, etc.

Most of the newbs here have trouble with the skills I outlined above. And developing them would take a whole hell of a lot longer than 12 seconds.

The first three are basically skills that one builds up mastery in through a combination of insight, experience, social interactions, etc. Being able to walk up to a girl, have a good interaction while "showing intent," escalating from there, etc., takes skill mastery.

If a guy can do those things without having to memorize routines, canned openers, or a precise list of steps done just so, then that just makes them more efficient, and shows a lot of skill mastery.

I fail to see the problem with that.

In the old days, 'game' actually required 'learning'/reading, as you had to learn about openers and DHV stories (to include certain elements such as protector of loved ones), and learning about the 'order' of conversation for a typical pull and remember certain 'attraction material'/routines and what sort of things you do next such as qualification and in what order etc etc. Quite a lot to think about...

I mean, it's a lot to think about, sure. But many of these finer details are unnecessary.

Some of the best openers come from observation and are specific to the situation; Openers don't need to be canned.
Trying to demonstrate one's value through telling stories about themselves, falls under the definition of try-hard. One doesn't need to have DHV stories.
The order of conversation can vary wildly depending on the situation, making the real skill not memorization, but improvisation, which requires observation.

All those steps and techniques came from socially awkward guys trying to define what was happening when guys picked up on girls. And specifically, a lot of the old school guys like Style and Mystery, were in environments in LA, where the women are fake as fuck and often overly backstabby, dog eat dog, and cynical.

Their model of game and what dating looked like, was an adaptation to some of the worst and most extreme places from that really distorted environment. In some ways, this old game is trying to fight fire with fire. Which is fine if you're into a fake, cynical person, but the problem is that they generalized this to all women.

But then come the unintended side effects of old style game. It's a form adapted to get a certain kind of woman. One who requires games and such. That's fine. A lot of stuff can "work," when we get right down to it. (I mean really, we have guys doing the apocalypse opener ffs.)

But what matters after that is, what sort of thing do you get with the bait you're putting out. If you want something casual and disposable, then old school game is fine, to a point.

Just bear in mind, the sorts of issues that old school pioneers like Style and Mystery have had with their way of gaming.

According to a guy who used to run with them, they both suffered repeated failed relationships over the years despite wanting one, with one of Mystery's last attempts leading to his baby mama refusing to let him see his kid, and Style finding himself unable to stop himself from compulsively cheating on the love of his life.

Why? Because their way of gaming screens out stable people who don't want to have a manipulative interaction.

So it works, but there are trade-offs.

You still need to internalize information and understand it in multiple contexts.

The old stuff does work. It works quite well but the more modern approach to PUA distill down WHY the older stuff worked. And that comes down to inner game.

I can tell you how to operate a car in about 3 paragraphs but that doesn’t actually you how to drive it. What to feel and the practice involved in navigating issues that will come up.

That’s why I like new and old folks alike to read Models. It’s a great manual on how to drive your vehicle. Then you can still get into the more fancy shit like DHV stories(if they are true)... but chances are you won’t really need them. They worked for guys because they helped them speak more confidently.

Pick up lines can work... because you are expressing you are a confident guy. not because the words are lined up in some magic way to polarize her in three seconds.

So much of success in PUA for everyone isn’t because they masterbated all over whatever RSD of the month has been sold to them. Success in PUA along with everything else a result of self reflection, practice and internalizing success with a bit more feedback than “I’m such a badass!”.

“Hey, that went really well for me... what could I have still done better?”

Plenty still needs to be learned. Understanding women is a major thing a lot of guys struggle with especially if they are coming here after a TRP binge and need to detox.

Once you learn to understand and be empathetic with women you can develop your own confidence and ability to have a conversation then cap it all off without being needy. If you get rejected you can step out of the situations and know exactly what you did wrong or how something you did made her feel negatively... or positively.
