I have a scenario for you.

Let’s say you were walking around and you saw a cute girl sitting down somewhere. Maybe this is a coffee shop, a park bench, a food court, in class, etc.. I think you get the point.

Let’s say you decided to approach this girl

How would you do it? Would you awkwardly stand next to her while you tried to get to know her and secure the number or would you walk right up to her and sit down?

I bet most of you are thinking that going up to a random girl and sitting down next to her is awkward. I’m here to tell you it’s actually awkward not to do that.

What you think is a less awkward approach, in reality, is actually way more awkward.

What I mean by this is that often times people do things because they are afraid of coming across as awkward to the girl. In their attempt to be less awkward they end up being way more awkward.

Think back to that last example for a second and pretend you are a random person watching your own interaction with this girl sitting down. What would look more normal?

Two people casually sitting down next to each other, having a conversation OR one person sitting and the other weirdly standing next to her while having a conversation.

The answer is obviously the first scenario.

Think about if, instead of it being a cute girl, you walked up to see your best friend sitting at a table. How would you react? There is no shot you’d stand next to them for 5 minutes and have a conversation, you’d just take a seat like a normal person.

It should be the exact same with the girl.

PRO TIP: It will be more nerve-racking at first but you will be more comfortable and relaxed after you take a seat rather than towering over her, while you try to have a conversation.

A general rule of thumb I like to follow is if a 3rd party watching you would think the situation is awkward, the girl will think it’s awkward too.
