When to ask for the number online?

I give my number when we've decided to meet. She usually sends a text to give me hers, or she'll ping me when she arrived to the meeting place.

Honestly, you should do it as soon as you've made a "connection" which usually happens during the first few texts of conversation. It's tricky but requires you to correctly interpret that point of the "connection".
