Rejection is a natural part of dating, but for you guys that have pretty systematised processes in which you date high volumes of women and filter them out gradually one way or another, do you notice what kind of rejection you receive most frequently? Is it generally different from hot successful women vs less desirable women?
My preferred way to be rejected is a direct text after a date.
“Thinking about it more, I think I didn’t feel quite as strong of a connection as I was hoping for, I’m sorry! You seem like a great person and super intelligent, and I’d be down to be friends but I think romantically I wasn’t feeling a strong enough bond for more dating.”
But I find this level of emotional intelligence to be pretty uncommon. It takes time and emotional energy, and in a big city with lots of dates, it doesn’t always register as a priority for people.
More often they’ll just let things fade or break down gradually with excuses + time.
“This week is intense for me because I’m flying back to x in the morning & finishing stuff up here. I’ll let you know once I’m back & settled though!” then she disappears forever.
Or she bails on a date but doesn’t make an effort to reschedule. Ignores your texts but answers your calls. Acts into you in person but is distant and evasive with future logistics. Just generally sending mixed signals when the answer is probably no.
It reminds me of like when you’re bartering in other countries and instead of a no answer you get like a “possibly” or “maybe” in South America, or they’ll pretend they don’t understand in SE Asia. Or some kind of generalised proverb that derails the question in Africa. People globally are pretty uncomfortable with the taboo of rejection (especially in hospitality/markets)
I suppose too in dating a lot can exist in the gray area between yes and no, and often it’s a man’s responsibility to be direct and intentional. But then you may also get into fruitless chasing territory and that’s no good.
All that to say, do you feel that the majority of your rejection is communicated or presumed?
