A common piece of advice toward men is to adopt a activity such as salsa, to meet women I picked up salsa in university, and I met many girls through it. However, because salsa has a reputation of being a sensual dance, in the general public, many more men go to salsa classes than women (4-6 more men in a class of 20-30). In contrast, swing, which is seen as much more platonic, had the opposite effect. Because of this, swing girls were very happy when you asked them for a dance, while many salsa girls were highly selective about who they danced with.
I noticed a similar effect with tinder. At first, only a few, cool people knew about it, and it was hookup central. Then the wider population of guys heard about it, and now the girls are highly selective while the guys are fighting over scraps. Nightclubs are a similar deal: relatively new clubs have cute girls and some cool guys, which attracts a ton of less cool guys, driving the cute girls off.
This lead me to think: the moment something becomes mainstream knowledge that it is a good way to meet women, it immediately makes it worse to meet women, because you get a huge influx of thirsty guys. Do you think this is true? Also, what non-mainstream places do you guys use to find a lot of women? My most unique one is probably fairy convention.
