First off buddy, hopefully she isn't lying about the family problems. Unfortunately, there are some people willing to go to those extremes as an excuse. Which if worst comes to worst, at least you know she probably isn't a good choice. Assuming she's genuine, maybe you can ask how she is doing one day. Hopefully that can let you know if her problems have improved and so forth. If the situation is all good now, then ask for a second date. If she replies positively, then kewl! If not, just move on.

In regards to the approaching girls in public, seems like you've done a great job so far. Keep doing what they don't seem to mind, but I guess also note that not every girl will react the same. However, risk is part of dating! Hope this helps.

There’s a big possibility she’s lying, mainly because that’s the exact same lie I’ve given professors, dates, and more when I wanna flake out of something. Is it fucked up? Yes. Does it happen? Unfortunately yes. Now, that isn’t to say she for sure is lying, but you’re better off just moving on. If she did have a family thing, then she’ll get back to you at some point. Leaving it at “no worries...” puts the ball in her court; you risk appearing needy if you message again, but it could be worth the risk. At the very least, you’d have immediate closure knowing she isn’t into you. Either way, keep your options open and don’t sweat this bumble girl too much.

One more thing, you’re currently dating a girl you approached irl, and you’re still worried about that bumble chick?? Come on man, move the hell on already, like what the fuck. Focus on one or the other, not both. Like damn, imagine the disrespect the girl you’re dating would feel if she knew just how pussy whipped you are over another girl you had one date with... You’re lucky women can’t read minds.

Furthermore, you worry way too much about appearing creepy. I get that in today’s sociopolitical climate, cold approaching women during the day can seem more rude than mutually beneficial, but that’s just a misconception. The reality is, it doesn’t have to be creepy, but to be smooth requires social skills and tact. In other words, you won’t get good with women without practice. Again though, it sounds like you’re already dating one girl, so just focus on that and forget the bumble chick

Dude, it's ok to approach girls in public. It is our duty as men to engage the opposite sex and initiate contact. And don't get into thinking you're being intrusive - you're just doing your job, and if you really are bothering the girl, she will let you know.

Whoever told you that "girls don't like that" probably had a few bad experiences and gave up. Literally every place in the WORLD is a public place.

That being said, meeting women out and about has and always will be the best way to meet women although not for everyone. Online dating is amazing since it's just the best things about you posted up 24/7. You can't beat that.

Start meeting women in public to stay in practice. Those conversation skills aren't going to hone themselves and you don't want to freeze up should you run into the woman of your dreams.
