How about approaching this as like a normal, confident human. If someone doesn't want to meet up (assuming there wasn't a good reason) then it's time to move on to another person who does.

Definitely the former approach of "no big deal" that will make you seem like a more fun person. Ask yourself how you'd react if the situation were reversed. If a girl was like "okay, I'll just do something else" she seems way cooler than the chick who hits you with "you disrespected one of my rules, boy bye". Be cool dude. Be cool.

Alpha and beta aren't really how most women see you. It's asking: is this person enjoyable to be around? Am I attracted to them? There isn't some witch doctor formula that will get you laid. It's a lot of more about right place, right time. Basics for physical attraction are grooming, fashion, work out / health (men or women). Beyond that, someone finding you appealing is really, really luck of the draw. Cast a wide net and have fun.

I agree with u/TheHalfMonty it's not about being "alpha". This term is being thrown around a lot sometimes in comically distorted context. So back to the question itself: If you get rejected, see it as her saving your time, she could just have strung you along for validation. Trying to make her feel she lost something is playing stupid games in the hopes she will change her mind, but seriously, do you really want that? Wasting your time playing some bullshit game, just for the microscopically small chance it will work, only then to have to play even more and more to keep that girls attention? What I have learned over the years and I have tried the "game playing" method which never really worked as well as the "walk away" method, and the latter has kept my head way more clear and focused on girls who might actually be compatible with me.

Always keep in mind your time is the most precious thing you will __ever__ possess, and it is running out every single second of every single day. Best not to waste it on girls who are not right for you.
