Here's what I did this weekend. I went to the halloween dance in one of the dining halls. When I got there, I saw a cute girl wearing a Yankees jersey dancing on a bench. I hopped up on the bench with her and politely informed her that the Yankees were no longer in the playoffs, so there was no reason to still be rocking her Yankees gear. We talked about baseball for 10-15 minutes. I didn't wind up getting her number, but fuck it, who cares.

I saw another girl dancing on one of the benches rocking a risky business outfit, but rocking a pink button down shirt. I went up and asked her why she was rocking a pink shirt instead of a white one. She informed me (correctly) that Tom Cruise is actually rocking a light pink shirt in that scene and not a white one like most people assume. I was convinced this was not the case so I made a bet with her. I asked her what she wanted to bet. She pointed at the ceiling and said "that chandelier". I agreed and we shook on it. I talked to her for a couple more minutes, then left. As I was leaving I asked for her number so I could collect my chandelier. She obliged and I left.

Since I lost the bet, I plan on texting her later in the week inviting her to grab some drinks with me, admitting defeat and offering to buy her a slice of pizza instead of stealing a giant-ass chandelier.

There's not a whole lot more to it then that. There are hot girls all over college campuses, and most dudes are fucking clueless. So just go and talk to a cute girl you don't know. You don't have to have some awesome line, or some excuse for talking to them. Just go talk to them.

If you work there and don't attend there, it's a lot different. Your status is lower as an employee who—I'm assuming—is there to serve the needs of the students around you. And your self-description tells me that your inner game is not where it needs to be, so you're digging out of a double-deep hole.

So instead of worrying about picking up college students, I would simply focus on building your game with whatever opportunities come your way. Study the basics (see the sidebar) and focus on those strategies that help you develop your confidence and self-esteem. Pay attention to the David Wygant materials, which directly address this.

He uses one particular image that I love: wherever you go, be the mayor of that place. Shake hands, kiss babies, make friends with everyone there. Be the life of the party wherever you go. At work? Be the mayor of your workplace. In an elevator? Be the mayor of that elevator.

Practice conversing with strangers, even those you have no romantic interest in. Get comfortable with that—then, when a desirable girl comes along, you're chatting her up just like you would any other person—and she can see that you're simply a friendly, outgoing guy because you treat her just like the little old lady who walked in right before her. And then it doesn't matter what you say, because you'll be developing attraction with your non-verbal communication.

I've worked at a university while also practicing game and I can tell you one of the biggest tips is that you want to differentiate yourself from the male students. This is important since many college girls will actually be more attracted to an older professional male with a stable job than a broke ass douchey popped collar frat boy. Obviously looks aren't everything, but it does give the first impression and you want to show these girls that you are stylish older guy who has his shit together. You'd be surprised how many college girls will seek out this stereotype.

Let me tell you something not about pickup and about job security- I worked on campus at a small school as a student. Then I graduated and worked there full time. Big mistake. Of course as a student, I went to parties where there was underage drinking when I was of age. When I started my job, my job offer was almost rescinded because of what I had done before ever considering working for the institution. Be careful with this. College campuses are political, almost rivaling actual politics. The people that work in higher ed are backstabbing and cutthroat, incompetent, and liars, and will not hesitate to throw you under the bus to advance their own agenda. Working there as a student was absolutely nothing like working there full time (which came to be the worst job I had ever had). Be discreet.
