*************Please help!************ Looking for input (while considering going pro se) and starting with the issue below as it is extremely TIME SENSITIVE;
******************** TLDR; ******************** Spent $10k and a year with my attorney working (stalling) almost exclusively on the financial affidavit and mandatory disclosure. Opposing counsel for BM (never married) has filed motion to compel and suddenly my attorney says I need to (in essence) start over with a new forensic CPA (including a new/additional retainer for the nee CPA…😬)
************QUESTIONS; *************** 1. How absurd (or typical) is this? (Self employed with 2 businesses)
Is a CPA even necessary and what are the pros/cons and potential consequences of using one vs. not?
Does anyone have attorneys and/or CPA’s they recommend in south florida? (West palm beach area)
Any other insight or suggestions, especially from those with experience in florida/west palm beach?
Thank you very much!!!!
*****ADDITIONAL BACKGROUND;******* -January 2022; hired my attorney after being served by my BM (never married) in florida for paternity, child support, parental responsibility and timesharing.
-over these last 14 months, I’ve paid my attorney 10k and am concerned the next invoice will show that the $10k has already been exhausted.
-since then, my attorney has not submitted mandatory disclosure nor the financial affidavit that we have spent over a year on including thousands on a forensic CPA.
-BM filed motion to compel mandatory and financial affidavit that is long past due.
-attorney now says that because the CPA is her husband, he won’t be able to testify and I therefore need to (in essence) start over with a new CPA that she recommends while we are very short on time for the motion to compel.
