Just wanted to share my excitement from the weekend and thank everyone for all their advice the last few months.

He planned out a 3-part surprise for V-day - I was surprised with 1) 8 roses and a box of hand-picked chocolates. We made dinner together then as we sat down he introduced surprise 2) Four kinds of house plants to be delivered in March-April. And surprise 3) was some fun bedroom stuff I've expressed interest in.

One of the most thoughtful things was how he took into consideration Asian culture in giving me gifts. I'm Chinese and we take numeric superstition somewhat seriously. 4 is an unlucky number because it has the same sound as "death", and 8 is lucky since it symbolizes wealth and luck.

So he got me 8 roses and 8 kinds of chocolates. And even with 4 houseplants he made sure to make it 8 in total (and the roses were the "Fifth" kind of plant, so he technically got me 5 instead of 4 plants). Also the plants were wonderful since I'm obsessed with houseplants but have a black thumb, so he picked out some easier-to-grow bulbs and flowering varietals!

It's really all the little things that make you feel appreciated. I am over the moon with how thoughtful he was and it truly was the best Valentines day ever. We're now officially exclusive as well.
