If you were to completely ignore attractiveness when dealing with others (women, for us here), think how much more fair you'd be to everyone else. You'd treat people only based on good things like character, skills, personality, etc.
I've thought in the past about how much better the world would be if people rewarded each other for having characteristics that are considered positive in an intellectually enlightened world (kindness, etc.), and ignored physical attractiveness, which originates from biological roots in caveman times.
Then this occurred to me: if you tried to treat everyone more fairly by rewarding the proper characteristics (kindness, etc.), and ignoring physical attractiveness, why would most people these days ever get married? The biological excitement of dating would be gone, because you likely wouldn't be dating attractive women anymore.
You wouldn't need to marry for companionship, because you can have plenty of friendship, including with women, without getting married or living together. Who would take all the risks of divorce, etc., when they can get most of the same benefits of friendship without ever marrying or living together?
