A lot of talk about the first step of going your own way goes on here. Getting away from the gender norm of marriage and co-habitating. Thats a good first step, but that can leave a lot of guys wondering what to do next.

The next step imo, is the most important. Now that you are self reliant and have cast off any dependant leaching off of you. You need to figure out what 'going your own way' means to you.

The standard gender norms expected of men are, go to college, get a job, get married, buy a house, have kids, work 40 year, hope to live long enough to retire.

So, what was your next step? Have you found an alternative to buying a house, Vandwelling, tinyhouse living? Have you found alternatives to the 40hr/40 year norm? Working part time and living minimally? What about alternatives to the social relationships with family?
