I've seen another arrangement:

A catty, narcissistic, cunty type of woman gets a beta, then actually stays with them and is (apparently) faithful to them, because they get waited on hand and foot. They have a man with such little sense of self worth and self esteem that he has reduced himself to little more than her personal servant, making the vast majority of the money and doing the vast majority of work around the house including cooking.

Pretty sad, even more sad than some of those other ones imo.
